The Transaction Processing Performance Council has certified
Performance Metrics auditors to provide independent certification of
TPC benchmark types A, B and C. Auditors maintain certification through
continued participation in the TPC meetings and committees. TPC-D
certification is in process.
Custom Benchmark Auditing
and Consulting
Custom benchmarks come in two varieties: modified and custom. Custom
benchmarks are usually for specific markets where standard benchmarks
are not directly applicable. Services include modifying standard
benchmarks to include client specific criteria or to enhance
applicability to the client environment. Work is normally divided into
three phases:

workload consultation and set up of the independent tests to validate performance numbers, |

onsite validation of the execution and |

attestation letter or audit report preparation. |
Performance Consulting
Services are provided to assist clients in understanding the
implications of both performance and functionality of benchmarks.
Specific assistance has been given in the areas of proposed database
implementations, selecting Open System (UNIX) vendors, database design
reviews as well as database analysis, design, and migration assistance.
Educational Presentations
and Public Speaking
Seminars and educational presentations have been delivered publicly
and in-house on a variety of topics. Guest speaking and keynote
addresses have been an international service to both clients and
professional affiliations.
Publications and Technical
Writing
Publisher of the Performance Metrics Quarterly magazine featuring
in-depth articles on UNIX OLTP/DBMS products. Publication suspended due
to heavy benchmark workload. Technical writing services provided
include Full Disclosure Report templates in electronic form as well as
completion of the Full Disclosure Report and Executive Summary for
publication to the TPC.
